About Judith

Nevermind that a friend is writing this truthful and truly biased introduction, as you browse the website you will clearly see for yourself that Judith, loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend extraordinaire, is truly a gifted artist!

A bit of her spirit and more than a modicum of her soul are invested into each piece she creates. Visit her studio and it is plain to see that her love of life is reflected in her relationships, her home and each and every strand she places into her art.

Judith's current passion for creating ethereal and texturally dramatic pieces has led her to take nuno felting to new heights, both literally and figuratively! She creates fascinating three-dimensional landscapes using luxurious fibres, fabrics and her own handspun silk yarn. By hand-painting colour directly onto her felted pieces, she achieves a wild and unexpected beauty in each one.

Captivated by feltmaking since 2007, Judith works from her studio on the glorious island of Saltspring, British Columbia where she lives with her husband, Michael, and little Havanese dog, Oreo, who is a "heartbeat" always at her feet! When you see the location of her studio you will understand how Mother Nature is her muse, and you will definitely want to make a journey to this place of serenity, to play and create a reflection of who you are or make that perfect gift for someone you love! Judith is happy to arrange private small group sessions in her studio or is willing to travel to teach workshops.

You can find Judith's scarves, wraps, clothing, jewelry and home decor available for purchase in galleries and private boutiques in Canada and internationally and at the Saturday Market on Saltspring Island. A few pieces may be available though this website on the Collections - Scarves & Wraps page or contact Judith to commission a piece.
